Frequently Asked Questions

Below is a list of some of our more commonly asked questions. If you cant find the answer you're looking for, or need a more detailed explanation then please do get in touch either by phone or email....we're here to help.

Q. Do you have parking on site?

A. There is a public car park on site, it is pay and display. The machine only accepts coins, there is currently no pay by phone or card option. Please make sure you bring some change and allow time before the start of your session to organise parking. If the first car park you reach is full there is more parking available up the valley just past Cafe Mylor. The charges are £1 per hour for the first 4 hours booked then £5 for all day.

Q. How long before my session should I arrive?

A. We aim to start all of our sessions at the agreed start time so however long you feel it will take to get sorted- Upon arrival you will need to read our booking conditions and complete our booking form, payment needs to be sorted before starting too. We suggest this all takes no more than 5 minutes. To get parking sorted, signed in and kitted up aim to be with us 15 minutes early.

Q. What should I wear to get on the water?

A. This really depends on conditions on the day, if it is hot and sunny then t-shirt and shorts will be fine. Overcast or a little cooler and a jacket will make all the difference for kayaking and it might be time to consider a wetsuit for paddleboarding.  There is always more UV exposure on the water so suncream is always a good idea. Sun glasses are useful but please make sure they are good fitting or are tied on just in case.

We do have wetsuits available for rent at £5. Currently we aren't able to provide changing facilities so please come as ready to go as possible or prepared to get changed by your car.

Please note you will need to step in the water to launch all of our equipment so barefoot, sandals or beach shoes are great, trainers will get a little soggy.

Q. How long should I hire equipment for? Where should I go?

A. An hour rental is a great way to test the water if you haven't done much on the water yet. 3 hours is plenty of time to explore Mylor creek or head up to The Pandora Inn for a snack. For the more adventurous, Truro river, Devoran and St Just are all with in reach for a full day rental.

Q. How many people can go in a kayak? Can I take my kids or dog with me?

A. We have single and double kayaks. Singles, while designed for 1 adult can accommodate a small child or dog too. For a bit more comfort a double is a better option. Doubles have 2 seats in but there is a space in the middle for a child too, doubles will comfortably seat 2 adults and a child.

Q. Whats included in the price of the activities?

A. All of our activities include buoyancy aids.

Kayaks come with paddles, back supports/seats, and safety packs.

Paddleboards come with paddles and leashes.

For off site rentals paddleboards also come with transport bags and pumps.

If you do not have a wetsuit and would like to rent on they are available for £5 for on site sessions.

Q. Do I need to book activities in advance or can I just turn up?

A. All Instructor led sessions must be booked in advance. Rentals can be organised on your arrival but to avoid disappointment we recommend booking in advance. During April and October we reduce our opening times to just the nice days so it is best to call and book in before you drive down to us. In the summer it can get busy so giving us a call is always a good idea.
